Although seat sales entice us to board a plane, not everyone has the luxury of an infinite number of vacation days, and most of the time, all we have left on our calendar are a couple of long weekends to get away from it all. As a result, we find ourselves looking for a short trip from Manila.

You don’t need to book a plane ticket to fulfill your longing. In reality, you don’t even need to drive that far from the city at all! We understand the importance of a quick recharge, so we’ve compiled a list of all the great places you can visit if you need a short trip from manila.

REVISIT OLD MANILA – HISTORIC METRO MANILA

Manila might get a lot of lousy press some days, but that wasn’t always the case, particularly in its glory days. Why not start your day in the beginning, at Kilometer 0? Rizal Park, or Luneta as it is more widely called, is Asia’s largest urban park. Despite being photobombed by the Torre de Manila, it is still a must-see for locals and tourists alike.

Spend a few hours walking through Intramuros, the Walled City, on foot, calesa (horse-drawn carriage), or on a Bamboo bike tour. These bikes are one-of-a-kind in Asia and are exquisitely handcrafted! If you want to take a walking tour of Intramuros and Old Manila, a few individuals and groups give informative and entertaining tours.

If you visit only a couple of Metro Manila’s historical sites, you’ll learn a lot about the city’s history and cultural beginnings. You may also include a sunset cruise on Manila Bay and a visit to the Philippine Cultural Center.

 BATANGAS

When looking for a short trip from Manila, Batangas comes first to mind. From beaches and hiking to food tours, Batangas has all that other destinations have, too. Without taking a plane, you can already enjoy white sand beaches.

Batangas has long been a favorite place for short-trip from manila and holiday tourists, particularly when it comes to beach destinations close to the city. REDISCOVERING NUEVA  ECIJA

Explore Minalungao National Park in General Tinio on foot or by bamboo raft along the Penaranda River. The park also offers fishing, picnicking, swimming, camping, spelunking, and cliff diving. Challenge yourself to ascend the 1,000 steps to the top, where a human-made cross overlooks the entire city, after spending a few hours beside the river.

Visit Pantabangan Dam, one of Southeast Asia’s largest reservoirs, if you want to see more of Nueva Ecija. Aficionados of sport-fishing or game-fishing can satisfy their cravings in Pantabangan Lake, while others can hire a boat to take a tour of the lake. For a short trip from Manila, this is your one-stop nature destination.

PAMPANGA ADVENTURE – VOLCANOES AND FOOD 

Aside from a day hike to Mt. Pinatubo’s crater, foodies would enjoy visiting the Philippines’ Culinary Capital.
