People often rush to see the most photographed and visited destinations worldwide, overlooking the hidden and underrated gems to have Fun in the Philippines. Europe has the City of Lights, the U.S. has the City of Dreams, but Asia has a country where it’s more fun. The Philippines are known as the island paradise with dreamy beaches and a diverse offer of entertaining activities.

The statistics show a growing trend of tourist visits to the Philippines since the government started a campaign in 2012, presenting why the exotic archipelago should be on top of your bucket. Travelers, especially those from the western countries, quickly noticed that this underrated country has more fascinating spots and activities than many globally popular destinations.

I was one of them. Sadly, I didn’t know that the Philippines are not just some faraway and unfriendly island. Thanks to Bob, my best friend who has an explorer mindset, the word-of-mouth marketing worked, and I got curious. That curiosity opened a new world to me. Back then, I was seeking endless fun, and I found the country’s slogan (It’s more fun in the Philippines) promised. 

After that experience, I decided to be Bob for someone else, break potential stereotypes, and entice me to visit this beautiful country. Hence, I am sharing a travel fun guide that will show you all the things you can do and why you should visit the Philippines. 

THE BEST BEACH ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAM

With more than 7,100 islands and the ocean’s captivating depths, beaches are the place to go if you want to experience the real fun in this country. Although the country is brimming with many non-beach-related activities, these are the top three experiences to have fun in the Philippines.

1. Have fun in the Philippines Scuba Diving.

The southeast Asia island is home to pristine beaches with turquoise waters, coral reefs, and rich and healthy biodiversity. That makes it a perfect place for those who have a zest for scuba diving, whether they are masters of the practice or eager to learn.

Honestly, at first, the idea of wearing a heavy tank and wetsuit didn’t impress me. My kind of fun is to relax on the beach with a six-pack right next to me while the warm ocean caresses my feet. But after seeing all those passionate and energetic scuba divers (including complete beginners like me), I thought life is only one.

As I was on the captivating Boracay island, it was the right moment for some new life milestones, such as getting my PADI or Open Water Diver certification. The feeling of achievement and trying something new beats enjoying beer and only chilling at the beach.

Whether you are a newbie or a diving professional, the Philippines will offer you the right scuba program. For those who want to learn, there are beach scuba diving schools and local dive shops where you can get classes and certificates for roughly 400 dollars. Thus, it usually lasts four or five days, and you get both classroom knowledge and in-water training.

As a diver, you will experience good visibility and warm water temperatures (wetsuits in here should usually have a dive skin to three mm). If you are coming to the Philippines for scuba diving, the best season is from November to May. During the other months, you might encounter typhoons and prohibited diving.

The island belongs to the Coral Triangle, which means that it has numerous splendid diving spots. Some of the best are Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, Anilao, Dauin, Moalboal, and Puerto Galera.

2. Have fun in the Philippines Snorkeling.

Cerulean and crystal clear depths are hard to resist, and one has the urge to explore them. The Philippines thrives in the number of these magnificent places. Snorkeling is one of the best ways to discover what’s beneath and see a breathtaking array of sea life. I always loved to snorkel, and I found that doing in the Philippines’ waters fills me with sincere tranquility.

But be careful; snorkeling might show you that the world beneath the surface is often more magnificent and alluring, inviting you to keep exploring. The Philippines have such colorful marine life that it almost feels like you are inside the Finding Nemo movie. You will see lush coral gardens, sea turtles, manta rays, and vibrant reef fish.

If you seek a snorkeling safari adventure, the islands of Cebu and Bohol are among the best spots due to accessibility and extraordinary coral gardens. Other snorkeling destinations you shouldn’t miss are Palawan, Pandanm, and Boracay. The best season for this activity is between June and September because these months are dry and warm.

3. Have Fun in the Philippines Swimming.

Forget about swimming in the hotel pool if you are coming to the Philippines. Life is better underwater on this exotic island, and the varied marine life can justify my statement. If you love swimming like me, you will enjoy remote, peaceful, and clean beaches. There is no overwhelming crowd in the Philippines, like in Phuket or Bali. That allows you to experience genuine peace and relaxation in a stellar marine environment.
