I once paid for a Filipino friend’s chemotherapy operation. She had throat cancer and went to a government hospital. The six months of the successful treatment cost $800, including blood.  This is why retiring to the Philippines is a good idea.  

You will be able to afford effective care when you get cancer and not hit the deductible on your health insurance policy! My dentist put caps on my teeth for $60 a cap, and when she works, she sings to me.
