Bislig Philippine is the gateway to the enchanted river.

It’s exciting and easy to travel to Bislig Philippines and see the many reasons why people are stopping here for a visit.

I think the best way to visit Bislig Philippines is to travel by bus when you can.  The bus has air conditioning, a toilet, big windows to see out of, and stops every few hours for meals.  You can get real “local Filippino Food “ at these meal stops.  The main bus is the Bachelor bus.

Overview of Bislig City Philippines

Bislig City is the center of trade and industry; it houses national and local banks. There used to be movie houses as well. There are also accommodating inns and hotels, and motorized tricycles, jeepneys, and buses ply its concrete roads and highways.

Bislig was the home of the defunct company PICOP Resources, Inc. (PRI, or previously known as the Paper Industries Corporation of the Philippines), the largest paper mill in Asia, and one of the largest in the world. It is geographically situated at Barangay Tabon, and its concession is a sanctuary of the Philippine eagle

Bislig, officially the town of Bislig, is a city of 3rd tier city in Surigao del Sur province, Philippines. It has a population of about 94,535 people.

Barangay Mangagoy, the downtown area, sometimes referred to as “the small city inside the city” by its residents, is Bislig’s hub of trade and industry with a population of 32,464 as of the estimate for 2015.

In terms of population, it is the largest barangay in the city. Because the locals sometimes refer to Barangay Poblacion simply as ‘Bislig,’ Mangagoy, on the other hand, is often mistaken as a separate town, although it is only one out of the 24 barangays that comprise the entire City of Bislig.

How big is Bislig?

Bislig is located about 208 kilometers (129 mi ) north-east of Davao City, 152 kilometers (94 mi) south of Tandag City (the provincial capital), 44 kilometers (27 mi ) south of Hinatuan, and 158 kilometers (98 mi) south-east of Butuan City.

Bislig has 40,503 hectares of land spread over 24 barangays, nearly half of which are tropical rainforests known as “public forests.”

It is the most populous in Surigao Del Sur province among the cities and municipalities.
