Their longitudinal seating and lack of any seat-belts are less than safe. The saloon’s low height and the extended roof above the driver make visibility very poor. The high step at the back and the restricted size make entry and exit challenging. Also, they have little space for shopping bags.

Use ferries to travel in the Philippines.

Another type of Transportation in the Philippines are the many fairies that are connected by a network of routes. They travel everywhere from Manila to Davao City. Basically, There are four types of ferries.

These are the roll-on-roll-off fairies that recalled ro-ro’s a fast craft ferry, and then there are passenger liners that take you directly to and from specific destinations.

The ro-ro ferries are the older large types of fairies that you can drive your car onto or trucks and other cargo types. They have places for passengers to sleep, and there are different “tourist classes” on each ferry.

The classes range from open tourist economy class, which means you have a bed, but yet you’re exposed to the open-air.

The cabins for the “tourist class” are one large room with 40 other people with bunk beds scattered throughout.

The “tourist cabins” are rooms for 6 to 16 passengers and give you a little more privacy. The best thing about getting the cabins is that you have a nice clean toilet and shower to use. The other economy class toilets are always overflowing and smell really bad.

In short, don’t overlook the use of fairies because you can travel from 5:00 PM, take the overnight route to your destination and wake up at 6:00 AM and be there. There’s also a small social area where you can eat and talk with local people traveling on the ferry.
