Humidity is actually how much moisture is in the air. Due to the high temperature during the day and the surrounding oceans, the Philippines has high relative humidity or water moisture in the air. 

The average monthly humidity varies between 71% in March and 85% in September.  This mixture of hot temperatures and high moisture in the air makes these archipelago islands very warm.  It is especially true and uncomfortable sweaty from March to May when temperature and humidity meet their maximum levels.

Latitude on the Earth is not so much of a factor for the Philippines.  Thus, Baguio’s mean annual temperature, the coolest city in the Philippines, with an elevation of 1,500 meters or 4,600 Feet Above sea level, is 18 degrees Celsius, or 64 degrees Fahrenheit.  

This means the temperature of Baguio, the high mountain city, is comparable with other cooler cities.  Baguio is known as the summer vacation capital of the Philippines because it is so cool.

The most significant climatic factor in the Philippines is rainfall. Depending on the direction of the winds and the mountain systems’ position, rainfall distribution in the country varies from one area to another.

The Philippines’ total annual rainfall ranges from 965 to 4,064 millimeters, or over 13 feet annually. Regarding humidity and weather in the Philippines, the largest rainfall occurs in Baguio Region, eastern Samar, and eastern Surigao. At the same time, the southern portion of Cotabato gets the least amount of rain. The average annual rainfall in General Santos City in Cotabato is just 978 millimeters, 3 feet.

The north and the east of the country are more likely to see typhoons than the rest of the country. Manila, however, gets hit as well. Philippine weather cannot be described by using just one single type of climate. There are many types of weather that you will see when you are in the country. The country of the Philippines is located in Southeast Asia and is composed of 7,107 islands. The country is not actually as small as people think it to be so that the country can see tropical Savannah, tropical rainforest, tropical monsoon, and humid subtropical climates. 

The country sees only two seasons every year, and those are the dry season and the wet season. The two are defined because of the amount of rainfall which they see. The hottest time of the year is the dry season, which goes from April to October.

When is the best to visit the Philippines?

Well, anytime you can visit is a good time. You need to know what to expect, as you now know.

In short: The wet or rainy season starts from June to November. The dry season is from December to May. The dry season can be subdivided further into. From December to February, the cool, dry season; and From March to May, the hot, dry season.

If you like the cooler weather, the best time to visit and discover the Philippines is from December to February.  This is when temperatures are cooler and comfortable. 

You can visit anywhere in the country; it is fully accessible, including its crystal clear beaches, beautiful islands, and the more remote areas to see waterfalls and nature.  The dry season lasts from November to April, and the temperatures get uncomfortably high.

The wet or rainy season is between May and October.  The rain usually is a short 1 – 2 hour storm and rarely impacts travel plans.  Don’t worry; you’ll still enjoy hot sunshiney days anywhere you travel.
